How To Start Vaping

Welcome to the world of vaping, you may have seen or heard about it as it has become very popular over the last few years. There is also a lot of misconceptions going around, this article is to give you more information about what vaping is and what you need to know before you a start vaping.

What is Vaping?

“ to inhale and exhale the vapor produced by an electronic cigarette or similar device ”

So how the heck does that work? What am I inhaling?

Below is a diagram of what a simple vaping device looks like:

The device contains a battery, which gives the device power to heat up the coil/s (atomizer head) in the atomizer, which in return heats up the e-juice, which then creates the vapor that is inhaled.

What is in e-juice?

This is the liquid that you will put in your device to vape.

E-juice or e-liquid consists out of the following ingredients

Vegetable Glycerin

Propylene Glycol

Natural and Artificial Flavoring

Nicotine* Optional

Contrary to popular belief there are no added chemicals in e-juice as it simply heats up and turns into vapor and that is all that is needed for you to vape, no chemicals to burn or keep burning.

What am I going to need to start vaping?

For beginners I would suggest a starter kit something like the Eleaf iJust Pico or the Kangertech Subox Mini C Starter Kit, this will include a mod and a tank, they usually also come with pre-built coils. These devices are also not too weak so if you are a smoker you will be more satisfied with the amount of vapor and nicotine you are getting in, some smaller devices might not be as satisfying.

This is a great way to start at a lower wattage to get used to the vapor and you don’t have to build your own coils yet, you can basically just fill it up with e-juice and vape on it.

When you get your device you will also need some e liquid. There is a wealth of different flavors and different nicotine strengths and also some without nicotine. You will see e-juice flavors ranging from bakey to fruity and candy you name it it’s out there. The fun part is tasting all the vape juice and finding out which profiles you like most!

Safety

What you have in your hand is ultimately an electronic device powered by one or several batteries so there are some precautions you need to take. Get more information about technology then you can always consider Vape Shop South Africa.

Battery safety is at the top of this list.

Most devices have a removable 18650 battery that can be taken out and charged externally, when doing this it is important to check your battery cover for any cuts, nicks exposing parts of the battery as this could cause a short.

Also check your positive and negative poles for any indentations or bulges.

See below what a battery in good, safe working condition looks like:

You can see there is no tearing in the covers, no parts exposed, and no bulges or indentations on the poles.

You also get these awesome battery wraps, silicone covers and hard plastic casings you can purchase at your vape shops to recover and protect your batteries.

Helpful tips on battery safety:
